Primus is one of those groups that, according to the liner notes, "should not exist" - in other words, the defining sound of the band is too against the grain of popular music to mix well into mainstream success or translate into large sales numbers. Claypool, LaLonde, and Alexander seem to have dispelled that theory. Animals Should Not Try To Act Like People is an EP - a mere five songs long. This is relatively unimportant though, as the group gets their point across in these five songs. Most of the songs sound like a mixture of Seas of Cheese-era Primus and Antipop-era Primus.
