"March 2020, I found myself home from tour with nowhere to go. Late nights found me sitting bolt upright in bed with a new melody or a lyrical phrase. After a cold month of uncertainty, I had written thirteen new songs. Fresh from a tour of his own and with nowhere to go, Ben Hozie offered to document these songs and add some upbeat textures. Where there had been no album, there was eventually an album. Where my previous record, Metal Is My Only Friend, had been an exercise in isolation, Glad to be Alive is the fruit of community. The pendulum has swung, again. Bless."
